Jordan reiterates opposition to airspace violations amid Israel-Iran tensions

Jordan reiterated its firm stance on Friday, affirming its refusal to permit Israel to breach its airspace in operations targeting Iran. This declaration comes in the wake of reports connecting Tel Aviv to an assault on Isfahan, an Iranian city.

In a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdollahian, Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi underscored the imperative of deescalating tensions in the region. Safadi emphasized that Jordan stands resolutely against becoming a battleground for conflicts between Iran and Israel, as stated by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.

'Jordan is determined'

Safadi assured Abdollahian that Jordan remains determined in its commitment to prevent both Israel and Iran from violating its airspace in their pursuits against each other. Additionally, he highlighted the urgency of addressing Israeli aggression toward Gaza as a primary concern.

The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his country's respect for Jordan's security and regional stability, reinforcing the diplomatic exchange.

Earlier in the week, Jordan announced its readiness to confront threats after intercepting unmanned aerial vehicles breaching its airspace.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retaliated against Israel with a barrage of drones and missiles following an attack on the Iranian Consulate in Syria on April 1. Reports from Iranian state media disclosed the activation of air defenses in response to suspicious activities over Isfahan and confirmed the destruction of three drones in the area.

While Iran's state television acknowledged significant explosions in Isfahan, it clarified that no nuclear facilities were affected. U.S. media outlets, citing unnamed officials, suggested Israeli involvement in the strikes within Iran, though there has been no official confirmation or comment from Israel regarding these reports.

In parallel developments, a member of the Israeli Knesset hinted at Israeli responsibility for the attacks inside Iran.
