President Recep Tayyip Erdogan voiced concerns on Friday over the conflicting statements issued by Israel and Iran regarding a reported Israeli attack on Iran.
Speaking to reporters in Istanbul, Erdogan highlighted the lack of clarity surrounding the incident, noting discrepancies in the accounts provided by the countries.
He criticized the absence of clear and unequivocal statements from the United States on the matter.
Tensions between Iran and Israel escalated following Tehran's retaliatory drone and missile strike in response to the April 1 attack on its consulate in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of seven Iranian military officers, including two high-ranking commanders.
Reports from U.S. media outlets suggested that Israel conducted a "limited strike" inside Iran on Friday, although Israel has not officially commented on the incident.
Disappointment with US veto of Palestinian UN bid
Erdogan also condemned the U.S. decision to veto Palestine's bid for full United Nations membership, expressing disappointment with the U.S.' alignment with Israel in the U.N. Security Council. He emphasized the need for broader international support for Palestine's membership aspirations.
Highlighting the significance of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's upcoming visit to Türkiye as a "return visit," Erdogan expressed optimism about advancing bilateral relations between Türkiye and Greece. He underscored the importance of discussions during the visit to strengthen ties between the two countries.
