Situation calms in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq after security incident: Foreign Ministry

Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday that the situation in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, appears to have calmed down following a recent security incident.

Oncu Keceli, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, stated, "Security issues emerged in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah city, Iraq, last Friday. As of now, the situation seems to be under control."

According to Chamchamal's Governor Remk Ramadan, three workers were reportedly killed in a drone attack on the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, on Friday.

The Khor Mor gas field is managed by Dana Gas, a natural gas company based in the United Arab Emirates.

Keceli mentioned that Turkish companies are also involved in a natural gas power plant project in the Khor Mor region.

"In response to our citizens' requests for evacuation from the affected areas, our Consulate General in Erbil intervened and provided necessary assistance and guidance," he added.

Furthermore, Keceli stated that Türkiye is closely monitoring developments in the region.
